What a trip really costs.

You pay what each provider charges for the train, the room and the tickets. Viatico adds no fee of its own in the preview. The only extra is currency conversion, and you see it before you pay.

A whole trip, worked through

Vancouver to Tokyo: the flight is priced in dollars, the hotel and the tickets in yen, and the card pays it all from a balance in dollars. Prices and the exchange rate are examples; the method is exactly what the app does.

Before you pay, Viatico checks your balance covers $2,867.15: the dollar prices, plus the yen part at the reference rate with 5% headroom, so a payment never fails on the rate. Only what's charged leaves your balance; the rest ($13.15 here) stays there.

What you pay for

  • The providers' pricesEach part is held on the real site at its real price. If a price moves before payment, you see the old and new one side by side and choose.
  • Nothing for what isn't bookedA part that sells out or fails is never charged. You can retry it, swap it or go without.
  • No Viatico feeIn the preview, Viatico adds nothing on top: no booking fee, no markup on the providers' prices.
  • Conversion, when it appliesYour balance is in US dollars. A price in yen, euros, pesos or any other currency is converted by the card network as it's charged, at roughly the ECB reference rate plus about 4%. Dollar prices are charged as they are.

Topping up

The card spends only from your balance, so it's topped up first.

Send USDC on the Solana network to your card's deposit address, shown with a QR code on the Card page. 1 USDC adds $1 to your balance; Viatico takes nothing from a top-up.

The sending side has its own small costs: Solana charges a network fee for the transfer, paid by the wallet that sends it, and an exchange may charge its own withdrawal fee. Check yours before you send.

In the preview, the card runs on test funds: you add them with one tap, and nothing real is charged.
